PAT comprehension test

Here is a snapshot of my Term 4 results for the PAT comprehension test. I scored 32 points out of 37. I am pleased with my result. My score in Term 4 was 32 points I got more than Term 1.

Five Scenses Writing

We are learning how to add description to our writing by including ideas from our five senses and creating Show not Tell sentences. We mixed Skittles and warm water in class and got to hear, smell, touch, see and taste them. Here is my writing.

Science Fair term 3 week 4 2017

Kia Ora everyone.

This term Ohaeawai School is having a Science Fair and it's tomorrow. The schools theme for the Science Fair is up up and away. Our experiment is 'Elephant Toothpaste' and these are the people in my group. Jessica ,Hollie ,Taylor ,Lani and me.  We would need hydrogen peroxide dry yeast boiling hot water food colouring and dish washing liquid. We are predicting that we would get an observable reaction, let's hope our prediction is right. I'll let you know how it went after the Science Fair is over thanks Bye. We are learning how to read and write scientific reports. We have been doing experiments and writing about them. This is a reading activity we did. We had to be able to match a title for a report with a wondering question.

Freezing Water.	What will happen when you mix vinegar and baking soda?
Floating and Sinking.	What will happen to an ice cube if you take it out of the freezer?
Kitchen Chemistry.	Which materials make the best insulators?
Disappearing Water.	What happens when you put a container of water into a freezer?
Keep Your Cool.	What will happen to a puddle of water on a hot day?
Ice Cube Experiment.	Does Blutack float?

Auckland 2017 Wk 9

This weekend , I went to Auckland with my parents. As we arrived we got Pizza Hutt because we were hungry and took it to my cousin's house. WE were all tired and decided to stay the night there. We left the next day and we visited people that my parents knew.

Fun Friday 2017

Today we are having Fun Friday. Fun Friday is when our school has a great day of activities and other things such as ring toss ETC. I am not in a group because I am a photographer I will be taking photos. Here are a little photo that I took just before.

Onesie day

Today we had an animal onesie day because we are fundraising for the year 1 and 2's zoo trip. Our group was dressed up as rabbits. Rabbits are members of the rodent family. Rabbits are also                                                          mammals.

Recount Mia Williams

This week we wrote a recount about a story including us in it. Here is my story and if you can spot some of my great similes and if you can get a great picture in your head of what is happening that will be great. Thanks.

“Ahhhhh” I screeched as I got an unwelcoming shock while I entered the             house. There was a little white fur ball drifting everywhere I looked. He was as fast as a tornado whirling around in circles. We finally had a new family member that was obviously staying.

My heart was pounding as fast as a hummingbird's wings flapping. I was so shocked that I nearly fell to the floor thinking about it. He was a cute little albino pit-bull, crossed with a little bit of whippet. “No wonder he is so fast!” I complained to myself. He made himself at home really quickly and started to sleep on our beds like a human being would do, but at some stage we got used to it. What was he thinking in his little dog brain? Later on in the year we  found out that he was a deaf dog and could hear nothing but himself think or not even that. We then started to get used to him with his little feet scampering everywhere. He had really sharp teeth but I wonder what he used them for, anyway he also started getting used to ripping and chewing things like a shark tearing flesh apart. Every time we sat down on the ground he would come up to me and Samuel and sit down on our legs trying to fall asleep.

A few days later he was starting to become an outside dog and for that reason we built him a little house to sleep in and put his food and water in.

We gave him a nice fleece blanket that he also ripped up and  another

ripped up sleeping bag . At some stage we then started to call him ‘Peski’ I love Peski to absolute bits and I hope he thinks the same about me.

Multiplication Facts

This week we started a new system for daily multiplication practice we had to answer 30 multiplication problems 30 division problems and 8 fraction problems in 3 minuets. My top score is  38. Here is a graph to show how I did today.

Thing-Link 2017

This week we have been making thing links based on someone from New Zealand who went to World War 1. We had to explain some facts about that person. My person that I chose was Henry James Nicholas, he was awarded the Victorian Cross. We had to do at least 6 bullet points about our person. Here is mine.

 

My Myth Writing 2017

This term we started to make a story of our mythical creatures. We have till the end of the term to finish our work. I wrote my story of a majestic unicorn and a beautiful little flower girl. We had to introduce our writing with an orientation like any other story, then we had to write the body which is called the middle, and then finally the conclusion.
